In Pennsylvania, although a bill to establish the Building Opportunity through Out-of-School Time (BOOST) Program failed to pass the legislature this year, it did make progress which could position it to pass next year. This would create the first state funding stream in Pennsylvania for high-quality afterschool programming.

This year, recognizing the behavioral challenges and mental health concerns of many children, programs across the country have put into action a host of activities and strategies for de-escalating tense situations and helping kids cope with difficult emotions.
STEM, Video Game Club Coming to Pennsylvania Public Libraries
Kids and teens who participate will have opportunities "to do things they wouldn't be able to do on their own," club founder Josh Bound said. "This club will help get kids past being scared" to try complex STEM projects.

Every Kids Sports provides assistance to families of kids interested in participating in recreational sports but have difficulty paying associated registration fees.
Currently, grants are available to specific markets and specific sports. Applications for general funding open Oct. 4.
PSAYDN is partnering with Earth Force to bring you Caring for Our Watersheds: Chesapeake Bay environmental action challenge, this fall!
Students receive $250 for their classroom to investigate and develop civic action projects to improve the watershed in their community. They can also apply for up to $1,000 in implementation funds.
Free information sessions begin in August. Action plans are due in fall and spring.
